Seniors can get a free Ring camera

You can hear the sound effect in your head: “Dah Duh Dee!” The Ring doorbell camera and its analogs are becoming ubiquitous and recording porch pirates, would-be intruders, and the occasional stray cat moving across the lawn.

Now a program is helping Broward County seniors ramp up their home security. During the commission meeting on June 10, Broward Sheriff’s Office Lt. Christopher Sutter laid out a program sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging in Broward County.

Seniors aged 60 plus can apply for a free Ring camera as long as they have Wi-Fi with high speed internet and have a device, like a phone or a tablet. They cannot already have a Ring. Once installed, the free service allows live streaming of the area. The feature that saves recordings for several weeks, costs $36 a year.
